Michelle Gayer is one of the most talented, highly acclaimed pastry chefs in the Twin Cities, and is also known nationally for her skills in the kitchen. She’s received two James Beard “Outstanding Pastry Chef” nominations as well as a “Best Chef Midwest” nomination. She’s been recognized at national food festivals, by Bon Appetit magazine, the Food Network and more. Gayer first earned acclaim as the pastry chef at the legendary Charlie Potter's in Chicago. She moved to the Twin Cities and started Salty Tart bakery in the Midtown Global Market in 2008 and recently opened the Salty Tart Cafe as part of the Market House Collaborative in St. Paul. Gayer loves to use seasonal produce to flavor her creations, with a combination of both savory and sweet flavor profiles that make each pastry a true delicacy.
